It takes about 90 minutes from JR Nagoya Station to JR Gero Station, which is the nearest station to Gero Onsen. Mutsumikan is a 2-minute walk from Gero Station on the east side of the station. It is conveniently located with only a 2-minute walk to the center of the town, too.

Ideyu Yoichi is an evening market held in Gero Town on Saturday evenings from mid-July to late August every year. A variety of stalls sell local specialties, ceramics and wood products. Stroll in the evening, and enjoy shopping!

Gero Onsen Matsuri takes place from August 1 through August 4 every year and is the largest summer event in Gero Onsen. Five dragons dynamically parade in Ryujin Hi Matsuri (Dragon Fire Festival), and Gero Odori (dance) and a fireworks festival are held.

The gorge and surrounding areas comprise Gandate Park. You can enjoy hiking there in every season, and especially it is enjoyable in spring while seeing fresh greenery and in autumn while seeing picturesque autumn leaves. The gorge is also a good base to tour waterfalls in the Osaka area.

The Osaka area has more than 200 waterfalls and one of the areas with many waterfalls in Japan. You can enjoy a casual walk and also full-fledged canyoning and shower climbing. Tours conducted by local guides are popular, too.

Fireworks are launched along the Hida River that flows north to south in the town. A pyrotechnist who won the Top Prize in Sekai Hanabishi Kyogikai (world pyrotechnist contest) demonstrates his amazing techniques.

Zensho-ji is a Zen temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism. Its garden, tearoom, and a large cedar tree, which is more than 1,200 years old and designated a National Natural Treasure, are worth seeing. The temple also houses many treasures and other valuable things.
